A picture on the screen is only the first test. Video, sound, touch, charging and wireless sharing can travel through different parts of the setup.

Can an interactive display connect to a laptop?

Yes, a compatible connection can let a laptop present content on an interactive display. To use the display as a touch input device for that laptop, the setup must also provide a supported touch data path. Seeing the laptop’s picture does not prove touch is connected.

Penthia’s published Pro and Elite configurations describe full-function USB-C with video, touch and 65W charging on compatible setups. Standard lists USB-C connectivity; do not assume identical functions across models. Confirm the exact port, laptop and cable combination.

USB-IF’s cable and connector guidance distinguishes cable capability categories. Use the documented specifications of both devices and the cable, not connector appearance alone.

A five-part laptop acceptance test

  1. Picture: open the intended presentation and verify resolution, text and scaling.
  2. Sound: play permitted lesson audio and confirm the selected output.
  3. Touch: select and move content in the actual application; verify that touch reaches the intended computer.
  4. Power: where charging is specified, confirm it with the laptop under the expected workload. A listed port wattage is not a guarantee that every laptop will charge adequately.
  5. Reconnect: disconnect, change teachers and reconnect using the normal classroom procedure.

Keep the tested adapter and cable specification with the configuration record. A replacement cable can change the result even when its connector looks the same.

How does wireless casting work in a classroom?

A teacher or student sends their device’s screen to a compatible receiver on the classroom display. The exact workflow can involve an application, built-in device feature or separate transmitter. Penthia lists screen sharing, but protocol, supported devices and network requirements must be confirmed for the selected configuration.

Ask who can discover the display, who approves a sharing request, and what happens when the next class arrives. Test school-managed devices and the actual school network. A successful connection on a demonstration hotspot does not establish school-network compatibility.

Can teachers annotate over shared content?

Annotation behavior depends on the receiving software and connection mode. A display may place ink over an image without controlling the source application or saving into its original file. Touch return to a laptop is another capability that needs separate verification.

Before rollout, annotate an actual lesson, save it and reopen the result. Check whether the saved output is an image, PDF or editable lesson file, and whether the next teacher can access it through an approved workflow.

Build a connection plan for the quote

List the teacher devices, required applications, intended cable length and whether one-cable connection or wireless sharing is a requirement. Ask for the exact supported path and included accessories. Request port documentation; do not infer every connector from a product render.
